Would it be safer to have college courses in the same region?

I was planning on earning some credits in some general study courses first and then transferring to a four year college, but I'm worried about accreditation, so I was thinking would it be better and safer to take courses in one college and then transfer to another college within the same region? I'm thinking of doing general studies courses online.|||As long as the colleges are regionally accredited, the credits will transfer to any other regionally accredited college (if you earned a C or better in the class and the school you're transferring to offers the same class). It doesn't matter where the schools are relative to each other.
