What are the PS3 region codes and how do they work?

Hello. I am an Indian who has been transferred to the USA. I have a PlayStation 3 system bought in India and am having trouble running it. I have three main questions.


1) Is there a region code built inside my PS3?


2) Will games and movies created here work on my PS3?


3) If not, how will I understand which type of games work on my PS3?|||Yes, your PS3 has a region code, as do games and movies. The thing is that most games on the PS3 are not region locked. In fact, I don't think any PS3 games are region locked to the best of my knowledge, you can play any PS3 game on any PS3. Blu-Ray movies and DVDs however are typically region locked, so only movies that are in the same region code will work on your PS3.





India is Region 5, so if your PS3 is region 5, then it will only play movies from region 5 and region free movies.
