How easy is it to get a job transfer with an hourly job?

If you get a job at a chain restaurant or department store, is it easy to get a transfer to a store in another region? I'd think this would be a really smart way to get to travel to other parts of the country. Are there any cons to this idea?|||There would have to be an opening in the area you wanted to travel to + you would need to consider things like housing expenses, travel, etc, etc
