Im ehading up to Richmond hill tommorow from Toronto, but im from Brampton and im confsued about this system. When a Yrt bus comes into Toronto, south of Steeles, do you pay TTC fare or yrt fare? Can I use a ttc transfer on the york bus? Also, I heard that when a yrt bus is Heading to Toronto, it cannot stop at ttc stops?
Also, on the Brampton 77 Route, can I use a yrt ticket since yrt and brampton share the same route?|||when yrt travels south of steeles they don't stop at ttc stops because ttc tokens/transfers aren't accepted. they will only take yrt tickets or cash|||If you're going to go to Richmond Hill from Toronto, you might be able to take a GO train as opposed to taking a subway/bus from Toronto. There are YRT/VIVA connections from Finch Station including the 77. You can also ride the VIVA buses because they come very often and stop only at major intersections. The Blue line on VIVA goes all the way to Newmarket on Yonge Street. It is very fast as well as having comfortable seats. During rush hour periods, they do tend to get crowded though.
I think you're referring to VIVA vehicles since YRT buses do not go into Toronto. VIVA bus stops do not allow the passengers to drop off at the stops south of Steeles. However, I think when they are going northbound, they stop at the stations south of Steeles.
Yes, you can use a YRT transfer/ticket for Route 77 since it is a bus route which operates within both York Region and Brampton (Transit).|||YRT/Viva buses enter Toronto only to go to major terminals (Finch, Don Mills, Downsview, and York University). As such, you will not pay a TTC fare unless you are continuing your trip on a TTC vehicle.
There are no free transfers between TTC and YRT/Viva, unless you are transferring to or from a TTC vehicle that is operating north of Steeles. TTC operates several routes in York Region under contract to YRT, and TTC vehicles operating there accept YRT fares and transfers. If you begin your trip in York Region on a TTC route, you pay YRT fare when you board. If your trip ends in Toronto, you will also pay TTC fare as you board (and you can get a transfer to continue your trip on TTC). If you start your trip in Toronto and cross into York Region, you pay TTC fare when you board, and YRT fare when you leave (and you can get a Zone 3 transfer to continue your trip on YRT/Viva).
YRT buses entering Toronto may stop to drop off passengers only. Viva buses do drop off inside Toronto at designated Viva stops (there are none on Yonge between Steeles and Finch, but Viva orange and green routes do have several stops inside Toronto).
You can use Brampton or YRT fares on route 77, with free transfer to other YRT/Viva routes (you will have to ask for a YRT transfer if you used a Brampton pass or ticket).
