What are the legal options for personal slander in the workplace, a letter written on corporate letterhead?

After writing a letter to the corporate office of my company relaying some hiring discrimination I experienced with the region I was trying to transfer to, I was told an investigaton was going to be made. The result of this investigation was an angry letter written by the HR VP for the subject region (real presonal and really unprofessionally written). The letter pretty much called me a liar, everything the HR VP said there was no evidence of I had actual proof of, phone records, emails and computer documentation among other things. This letter was "cc'd" to multiple executives in the company, smearing the credibility and reputation I had built up in the 3 decades I have worked with the company.


The hiring issue is being dealt with, but can I go after the indviduals who put false information out there?|||It is not possible to accurately evaluate your claim based on the summary you provide, but, in general, how good a claim you have will depend on the following:


1. What actually happened with respect to the "hiring discrimination" you mention;


2. The quality of the "proof" you have;


3. The contents of the letter you wrote to the corporate office;


4. The contents of the letter the HR VP wrote to you;


5. Who he sent his letter to;


6. What consequences you suffered as a result;


7. How the "hiring issue" is being resolved;


8. Your actual reputation before and after the letter; and


9. Which state the corporate office is in; the state your job is in; and the state the region you wished to transfer to is in.





Get a lawyer, you could have a very good claim. Do not agree to pay a lawyer to find out; there are lots of lawyers who will listen to your story and evaluate your claim for free. They will want about 40% of what you recover, but there should be no up front costs to you.|||Can president Bush hold any one of the Demacrooks in Washington or the "mainstream media" that slander and liable him almost on a daily basis to fault in court?


As a whistle-blower you have a better chance than he has.
