I am a freshman in college and I am seriously considering transferring schools. I picked the school I am currently attending for what I now realize was an extremely stupid reason-I wanted to go to school someplace with warm weather. As a result, I am living 2,000 miles away from home. Yes, I miss being able to go home for holidays and stuff, but that's not the main reason I want to transfer. I don't feel like I fit in here. The school is not very diverse, probably at least 80% white. Also, I grew up near one of the largest cities in the country, and I'm now living in the small college town. I am not happy here. How can I tell my parents I want to transfer to a school back in the region where I grew up? I don't know what to tell them since I was so determined to come to school here before I really knew what it was like.
10 points to best answer.|||i think you should transfer...if you don't you will be miserable for the next 3 years. your parents should understand...a lot of people make stupid decisions about going away to college. if anything, they'll probably be happy to have you back near home, closer to them. just tell them the truth. if they let you go 2000 miles away, they sound pretty understanding, so just tell them you're not happy. it's probably best if you have an idea of where you want to transfer to, so that you can point out what you like about the school you WANT to go to.|||Hey! Just be honest with them. I'm sure they would not want to see you miserable. I am a freshman and I am actually in the same situation. I am not exactly 2,000 miles from home but I am a good distance away. My school is also homogeneous (90% white )and i do not feel like i belong. I am transferring because i feel that will be best for me. Make sure you way the pros and cons. good luck!
